Synastry & Biwheels

The leading design philosophy behind LUNA is to allow for intuitive navigation. This means that you don’t need to hunt for options through layers of menus. Instead, actions you want to take are presented to you at the appropriate time.

Creating biwheels (also known as synastry charts when these are associated with individual people), is an example of this. Be sure to create a radix chart and save it into your chart profiles before you begin to create biwheels.

LUNA supports creating biwheels between just about every kind of chart that can be cast. Use the guide below to see how to create a specific biwheel of your choice.

Biwheel Arrangement

You can re-order biwheels so that the inner wheel can become the outer wheel and vice-versa. Look for this “gripper” icon in the chart info panels and simply drag and drop the panels into the new order you prefer.

Radix Biwheel

Creating a radix biwheel (radix/radix or radix/transit) can be created as follows. Start by opening a chart from your chart profile or create a new one.

Radix & Radix (i.e. Synastry)

  • [Desktop] Select menu option for “Chart Lookup” under the “Add Biwheel” panel on the left side of the chart.
  • [Mobile] Expand the drop-down “Add Biwheel” panel at the top of the screen. Select option for “Chart Lookup”
  • Select a radix chart from the list of chart profiles. A synastry biwheel is automatically created.

Radix & Transit

  • [Desktop] Select menu option for “Transits” under the “Add Biwheel” panel on the left side of the chart.
  • [Mobile] Expand the drop-down “Add Biwheel” panel at the top of the screen. Select option for “Transits”
  • A biwheel between a radix and transit is created automatically.

Composite Biwheel

Creating a synastry biwheel between a radix (natal/event) chart or transit and composite chart can be created as follows. The composite chart you intend to add for the biwheel should be created beforehand and saved in your chart profiles.

Composite & Radix

  • Open a composite chart from your chart profile.
A composite and radix biwheel is automatically created. Note the radix chart is automatically placed in the inside position.

Pro Tip!

Two composite charts can be created as a biwheel if both charts are saved under your chart profiles.

Composite & Transit

  • Open a composite chart from your chart profile.
  • [Desktop] Select menu option for “Transits” under the “Add Biwheel” panel on the left side of the chart.
  • [Mobile] Expand the drop-down “Add Biwheel” panel at the top of the screen. Select menu option for “Transits”.
  • A composite and transit biwheel is automatically created. Note the transit chart is automatically placed in the outer position.

For radix and composite charts, the desktop version of the “Add Biwheel” panel is shown on the left; the mobile panel on the right.

Secondary Progressed Biwheel

A biwheel between a radix (natal/event) chart or transit and secondary progressed chart can be created by using the “Secondary Progressed” option as follows. Start by opening a chart from your profiles or create a new one.

Secondary Progressed & Radix

  • [Desktop] Select the “Secondary Progressed” menu option under the “Auxiliary Charts” panel located on the right of the chart.
  • [Mobile] Pull up “Auxiliary Charts” at the bottom of the screen to access the “Secondary Progressed” menu option.
  • Under the “Add Biwheel’ panel on the lower-left (drop-down panel at the top of the screen for Mobile version), select the “Natal” menu option to add as a biwheel to the secondary progressed chart. A biwheel between a radix and secondary progressed chart is created automatically. Note the radix chart is automatically placed in the inside position.

Secondary Progressed & Transit

  • Repeat the steps above to open a secondary progressed chart.
  • Under the “Add Biwheel’ panel on the lower-left (drop-down panel at the top of the screen for Mobile version), select the “Transits” menu option to add as a biwheel to the secondary progressed chart. A biwheel between a transit and secondary progressed chart is created automatically. Note the transit chart is automatically placed in the outer position.

Solar Arc Directed Biwheel

A biwheel between a radix (natal/event) chart and solar arc directed chart can be created by using the “Solar Arc Directed” option as follows. Start by opening a chart from your profiles or create a new one.

Solar Arc & Radix

  • [Desktop] Select the “Solar Arc Directed” menu option under the “Auxiliary Charts” panel located on the right of the chart.
  • [Mobile] Pull up “Auxiliary Charts” at the bottom of the screen to access the “Solar Arc Directed” option.
  • Under the “Add Biwheel’ panel on the lower-left (drop-down panel at the top of the screen for Mobile version), select the “Natal” menu option to add as a biwheel to the solar arc directed chart. A biwheel between a radix and solar arc directed chart is created automatically. Note the radix chart is automatically placed in the inside position.

Solar Arc & Transit

  • Repeat the steps above to open a solar arc directed chart.
  • Under the “Add Biwheel’ panel on the lower-left (drop-down panel at the top of the screen for Mobile version), select the “Transits” menu option to add as a biwheel to the solar arc directed chart. A biwheel between a transit and solar arc directed chart is created automatically. Note the transit chart is automatically placed in the outer position.

Solar Return Biwheel

A biwheel between a radix (natal/event) chart or transit and solar return chart can be created by using the “Solar Return Navigator” menu as follows. Start by opening a chart from your chart profile or create a new one.

Solar Return & Radix

  • [Desktop] Look for the “Solar Return Navigator” menu option under the “Auxiliary Charts” panel located on the right of the chart.
  • [Mobile] Pull up “Auxiliary Charts” at the bottom of the screen to access the “Solar Return Navigator”
  • Enter a location for the return (or use the birth location), then Select “Go”.
  • Under the “Add Biwheel” panel on the lower-left (drop-down at the top of the screen for Mobile version), select the “Natal” menu option to add as a biwheel to the solar return chart. A biwheel between a radix and solar return chart is created automatically. Note the radix chart is automatically placed in the inside position.

Solar Return & Transit

  • Repeat the steps above to open a solar return chart.
  • Under the “Add Biwheel” panel on the lower-left (drop-down panel at the top of the screen for Mobile version), select the “Transits” menu option to add as an outer wheel to the solar return chart. A biwheel between a transit and solar return chart is created automatically. Note the transit chart is automatically placed in the outer position.

For all auxiliary charts, the desktop version of the “Add Biwheel” panel is shown on the left; the mobile panel on the right.
